Questions

The ten we are asked before every engagement.

How do engagements usually start?

With a forty-five minute scoping call at no charge. If it is a fit, you receive a written proposal within three business days stating the question, the deliverables, the dates and the fee.

Are the prices on this site the final price?

They are typical starting points, in United States dollars, for the scope described. The fee in your written proposal is fixed and is what you pay — there are no hourly overruns.

Do you work remotely?

Yes. Engagements run over scheduled video sessions with written follow-ups, and the deliverables are documents. Time zones are agreed in the proposal.

What do you need from us?

Access to the records you already keep, time with two or three people who do the work, and one decision-maker who can approve the changes. If any of those are missing, the engagement stalls and we will say so up front.

What if the recommendations are wrong?

Every recommendation states its assumption, so a wrong one should be visible rather than mysterious. If the findings document does not answer the question in the proposal, we rework it at no additional fee.

Do you take a commission from software vendors?

No. We accept no referral fees, commissions or reseller margins from any vendor. It is stated in every proposal.

Can you implement the changes as well?

Implementation is your team’s, with support available through the fractional retainer. We do not take over the running of a function, because that quietly turns advice into dependency.

How is confidentiality handled?

A mutual confidentiality agreement is signed before any material changes hands. We do not publish client names or case studies, and we do not use your material as an example without written permission.

How do you invoice?

Fifty per cent on acceptance of the proposal and fifty per cent on delivery of the findings, in United States dollars, by bank transfer. Retainers are invoiced monthly in advance.

What is not in scope?

We do not provide legal, tax, accounting, or regulated financial advice, and nothing on this site is any of those. Where a question needs a licensed professional we say so and stop.

Next step

A scoping call costs nothing and takes forty-five minutes.

If what you need is outside what we do, we say so in that call rather than writing a proposal for it.
